Unemployed Assistance Scheme – Tamil Nadu Government
About the Scheme
The Tamil Nadu Government introduced the Unemployment Assistance Scheme to provide financial support to unemployed young people who are registered with a District Employment and Career Guidance Centre. The scheme mainly helps registered job seekers who have remained on the live employment register for five years or more while waiting for suitable employment opportunities.
Special assistance is also available to Differently-Abled job seekers under the scheme. For them, the requirement is that their name should have remained on the live register for at least one year. An important feature of the assistance provided to Differently-Abled job seekers is that there is no restriction based on parental income or age for receiving this benefit, subject to the other applicable scheme conditions.
