About the Scheme
The Chief Minister’s Girl Child Protection Scheme (CMGCPS) is a welfare initiative introduced by the Government of Tamil Nadu to safeguard the future of girl children by promoting their education, well-being, and financial security. The scheme is designed to encourage families to value and support girl children, prevent female infanticide, and provide long-term financial assistance that helps create better educational and life opportunities for eligible beneficiaries.

Benefits and Eligibility of this Scheme
- ₹50,000 Fixed Deposit is made in the name of the eligible girl child.
- Annual incentive of ₹1,800 is provided from the 6th year onwards.
- Eligibility for the maturity amount: The beneficiary must appear for the Class 10 (SSLC) public examination.
- The parents or grandparents must be Tamil Nadu natives by birth or have resided continuously in Tamil Nadu for at least 10 years at the time of application.
- One parent must have undergone sterilization before attaining 40 years of age.
- The scheme is also applicable to girl children of Sri Lankan Tamil refugees residing in refugee camps in Tamil Nadu.
